There’s no secret that there’re a lot of designers offering cheap pricing. Simply do some googling and you will find them everywhere.
If you are a designer either a freelancer or running an agency, this is one of the challenges to overcome. You need to make a living. There are bills to pay and you can’t afford losing clients. It’s understandable to spend time brainstorming on how to compete with those prices.
Well, don’t even bother. I would suggested you forget about them entirely. They are not playing at your level and you should not be competing with them.
If you are meeting a potential client and he tells you that he can get the design somewhere else for only $10 rather than $1,000 that you quote, then let him be. He is clearly not the right client for you. Don’t worry, there are a lot of clients out there who are willing to pay fair prices for quality works.
Focus your marketing on finding those clients. Position yourself as an authority and put your efforts on how to fix their problems. Believe it or not, some of the clients who go with the cheap solutions may eventually come back to you.
So, instead of trying to compete with the super cheap designers, you should be better of concentrate on improving yourself and your services. All clients want good results. If you can deliver it, then you are on your way to a successful design business.
Have you been in this situation? Did a potential client ever compare you to cheap designers? How did you manage to respond? Let us know in the comment below.
