According to many bloggers and blogging experts out there, you need to write long contents to increase your blog ranking in the search engine.

But, sometimes you are too busy with your job and do not have much time to write. To keep your blog updated, you are triggered with writing short posts. Not the ones with 2,000 or more words but 200 to 300 words.

Sounds intriguing, but is it alright?

The question is, do you and your readers come to read a blog based on the word count or quality content?

I choose quality content. Something that benefits me will make me keep coming back. It’s human nature.

Quality content does not have to be long. When it’s enough to make your readers understand what’s on your mind and provide information they need, it should be good to go.

Blogging is not a scientific report or a research documents. You should write something you love. It should be fun and not stressful but still bring value to your readers. Your blog should be able to build strong relationship with audiences, answering their questions and provide them with solutions.

Your readers will definitely come back again if it’s useful.

In summary, remember these tips when you are writing blog content:

1. Quality over quantity

Great content will surely attract readers. Long content not necessarily interesting. Most of them even too long to read.

Don’t waste too much of your readers’ time. If you can make them understand with 200 words, why bother with 2,000? It’s a fast-paced world and everyone is busy. You probably realize how much distractions you experience every seconds when looking at your smartphones. Do you seriously expect your readers to read 5,000 words?

2. Focus on your topic

Be sure to write relevant to your blog niche. You can come out with something out of topic sometimes but don’t do it too frequent.

You also need to understand your target audiences and be able to identify content that benefits them.

3. Include keywords and keyphrases in the content

This is highly recommended because precise and relevant keywords and keyphrases are the keys to grow your SEO ranking. Do your research. Knowing which keyphrase matters is one of the most important things in blogging.
